Semi-Finals Match Report

Semi-Finals Match Report

What a day of finals footy at Bridgenorth.

Our Women’s have another chance to keep their season alive, while our Reserves and Senior Men are GRAND FINAL BOUND!

Two teams have booked their place in the big dance, and our Seniors have done it with their first finals win since 2019.

Women’s – Semi Final

It wasn’t our Women’s day, with the Old Scotch side taking the win 117 to 8.

Old Scotch took control early, building a 35-point lead by quarter time and keeping the Parrots to two points across the opening three quarters.

To the Women’s credit, they continued to compete right to the final siren, with Alex Dickenson kicking Bridgenorth’s goal in the final term.

The result hurts, but the season isn’t over yet.

Our focus now turns to next week and another opportunity to keep the season alive and fight for a place in the Grand Final.

RESERVES ARE GRAND FINAL BOUND! 🏆

The Reserves are through to the 2026 Grand Final after a gutsy 48 to 43 win over Old Launcestonians.

It certainly didn’t come easily.

Old Launcestonians got the jump early, holding Bridgenorth to just two points in the opening quarter while building a 14-point advantage.

But the Parrots turned the game around in the second.

Bridgenorth piled on 23 points to take a 25 to 21 lead into half time, before continuing that momentum in the third term. Another strong defensive effort restricted OLS to just three points for the quarter as the Parrots opened up a 17-point lead.

There was one more challenge to come.

OLS came hard in the final term, closing the gap and putting the pressure right back on. But the Parrots held their nerve when it mattered, hanging on for a five-point win and a place in the Grand Final!

SENIOR MEN ARE GRAND FINAL BOUND!

The wait is over.

For the first time in seven years, our Senior Men are through to the Grand Final, defeating Rocherlea 96 to 66 in an incredible Semi Final at home.

The Parrots started strongly, taking a narrow two-point lead into the first break before extending it to 12 points by half time.

But Rocherlea wasn't going away.

A big third quarter completely changed the game, with Rocherlea turning the deficit around to take a 64 to 54 lead into the final term.

Ten points down. One quarter to play. A Grand Final spot on the line. And the Parrots responded.

Bridgenorth produced a massive final quarter, piling on 42 points while holding Rocherlea to just two. A 10-point deficit became a 30-point victory as the Parrots stormed home to secure their place in the Grand Final.

Rohan Sergeant was huge in front of goal with six majors, while there were contributions across the ground when the game was there to be won.

Best players:

There’s still plenty of footy to be played.
