Round 5 Match Day Report

Round 5 saw Bridgenorth continue its strong run across multiple grades, with the Women’s, Reserves and Senior Men all recording impressive wins, while the Under 18.5s faced a tough challenge under Friday night lights.

There were milestones, debut goals, and another big day in front of goal across the club.

Under 18.5s

The Under 18.5s opened the weekend with a chilly Friday night clash at home against South Launceston.

Final Score:
South Launceston 137 defeated Bridgenorth 18

Despite the result, there were still positives to take from the game, with Alex Millwood providing a spark up forward with both of Bridgenorth’s goals.

Isaac Bezemer and Nate Clements continued to compete strongly throughout the contest, while Tayte Romari, Caleb Jones and Brendon Davis also battled hard across the night.

Senior Women

The Senior Women delivered another dominant performance, travelling to Westbury and keeping Meander scoreless in a comprehensive win.

The goals were shared throughout the side, with Emily McKinnell-Jack, Mikayla Bowden, Teagan Hodgetts and Lucy Williams all finishing with two each.

Singles came from Courtney Sharman, Georgia Rigby, Ella Simpson and debutant Jade Binns, who celebrated her first game with her first goal!

Reserves

The Reserves continued their undefeated start to the season with another convincing win, this time over Lilydale.

Bridgenorth 103 defeated Lilydale 16

The game also marked an important milestone for Thomas Lilly, who brought up his 50th game for the club and celebrated it in style with four goals.

Bridgenorth had contributors everywhere, with Harry Templar adding two goals, while Dylan Walkden, Eli O’Sign, Jordan Partridge, Ryan Barr, Joshua Corkery, Zavier Wootton, Tom Gibson and Corey McCormick all hit the scoreboard.

Senior Men

The Senior Men finished the round with another strong win, controlling the game against Lilydale after an early scare.

Bridgenorth 97 defeated Lilydale 14

Lilydale looked set to go scoreless in the opening quarter before finding a late goal, but from there Bridgenorth took full control and never looked back.

The pressure lifted around the contest, the ball movement opened up, and the lead continued to grow as the game wore on.

Rohan Sergeant continued his impressive form with another five-goal performance, while Oliver Wood was a constant threat up forward with four goals of his own.

Bailey Mitchell, Casey Walker-Russell, Jordan Cowell and Jacob Gilpin each added one in a well-balanced team effort.

Jesse Price and Solomon Scott were influential around the ground, while James Griffiths, Kaidyn Apted and Sergeant all featured among the best.

Round 5 delivered another strong set of performances across the club, with the Women’s, Reserves and Senior Men all continuing their form with convincing wins.

The Reserves remain undefeated, the Women continue to pile on scores, and the Senior Men again showed their ability to take control of games after quarter time.

The Under 18.5s, Reserves and Seniors now get a well-earned week off alongside the before returning for the next round.
