Round 4 Match Day Report

Round 4 turned into a high-scoring day for Bridgenorth, with goals coming from everywhere and players stepping up at key moments across all grades.

From fast starts to dominant stretches and a senior game that went right down to the final minutes, it was a day that had a bit of everything.

Under 18.5s

The Under 18.5s took on St Patricks in their scheduled Round 2 fixture, and it was Bridgenorth who made the early running.

Final Score:
St Patricks 61 defeated Bridgenorth 40

Bridgenorth came out with intent, taking control early and opening up an 8–2 lead at quarter time. However, St Patricks worked their way back into the game in the second quarter, turning the momentum and taking a 17–10 lead into the main break. From there, they were able to maintain that control in the second half.

Levi Nettlefold and Tayte Romari each finished with two goals, while Lincoln Hodge and Isaac Bezemer added one apiece.

Nate Clements was again among the best, continuing his consistent form, alongside Willem Fox, Caleb Jones, James Watson, Isiah Harris and Ben Carter.

Senior Women

The Senior Women put together a dominant performance against George Town, controlling the game from the opening bounce.

Bridgenorth 126 defeated George Town 0

The ball lived in Bridgenorth’s forward half for long periods, and the scoreboard reflected it. Goals were shared across the group, with Emily McKinnell and Teagan Hodgetts both finishing with six.

Contributions also came from Courtney Sharman, Georgia Rigby, Emma Woods, Mikayla Bowden, Lucy Williams and Eva Dingemanse.

It was also a significant day for the group, with Dingemanse making her debut and Hodgetts bringing up her 50th game, joining a small group within the program to reach the milestone.

Reserves

The Reserves continued their strong scoring form, putting together another high total in a dominant win over George Town.

Bridgenorth 118 defeated George Town 14

With 17 goals on the board, the control Bridgenorth had across the game was clear.

Jordan Partridge led the way with five goals, while Harry Templar added four. Jayden Blackwell contributed two, with singles from Sam Manix-Geeves, Joshua Corkery, Aaron Woods, Corey McCormick, Daniel Jordan and Eli O’Sign.

Across the ground, the group worked well together, creating opportunities and capitalising on them consistently.

Senior Men

The Senior Men’s game built into a tight contest that carried extra significance, with both the result and the Allan “THE MAN” Stevens Perpetual Shield on the line.

Final Score:
Bridgenorth 84 defeated George Town 80

Bridgenorth got the early jump, opening up a 16-point lead at quarter time before George Town responded in the second to take a 10-point lead into half time.

The third quarter tightened up, with Bridgenorth working their way back into the contest to trail by just five points heading into the final term.

The last quarter was played under pressure, with the lead changing late.

With less than five minutes remaining, George Town hit the front, taking a narrow lead. Bridgenorth responded soon after, with a goal at the 22-minute mark putting them back in front... a lead they held to the final siren.

Jacob Gilpin stood up when it mattered most, kicking three crucial goals in a 15-minute stretch to help turn the game.

Casey Walker-Russell finished with three goals, while Bailey Mitchell and Gilpin each added two. Tom Symes, Campbell Atkins, Declan Boyd and Joe O’Sign each contributed one.

It was also a significant milestone for Aidan Williams, who brought up his 100th senior game. It is an amazing achievement, and one made even more special by the result.

The win also saw Bridgenorth claim the Allan “THE MAN” Stevens Perpetual Shield, played in honour of Allan Stevens, who dedicated 20 years as a trainer and became a life member at Georgetown, while also contributing 15 years as a trainer with Bridgenorth.
