Round 3 Match Day Report

Round 3 Match Day Report

Bridgenorth travelled to Rocherlea on Sunday for a Sunday clash, with the Reserves and Senior Men taking the field, while the Under 18.5s and Senior Women had the bye.

Reserves

The Reserves put together one of their more complete performances of the season, running out convincing 58-point winners.

Final Score:
Bridgenorth 80 defeated Rocherlea 22

Rocherlea struck first, kicking the opening two goals and putting Bridgenorth on the back foot early. But the response was immediate. Bridgenorth steadied, lifted their intensity around the contest, and finished the quarter with three goals to wrestle back control.

From there, the game shifted firmly in Bridgenorth’s favour.

The pressure lifted, the ball movement opened up, and the scoreboard followed. Rocherlea were limited to just one goal in the second quarter, before being completely shut out after halftime in a dominant defensive effort.

Up forward, Thomas Lilly and Eli O’Sign were constant threats with three goals each, while Dylan Walkden added two. Ryan Byard, Ryan Barr, Codey Ketchell and Daniel Jordan each contributed one in a well-rounded performance.

Senior Men

The Senior Men were involved in a tight contest throughout the day, with Rocherlea eventually getting the result by a single goal.

Final Score:
Rocherlea 62 defeated Bridgenorth 56

It was a tense start, with neither side able to find a goal in the opening quarter. Bridgenorth made the most of their chances, edging ahead early and setting the tone for a low-scoring contest.

Rocherlea lifted in the second quarter, finding more of the ball and converting their opportunities to take the lead into halftime. But, Bridgenorth responded again in the third. The pressure around the contest lifted, the ball started moving cleaner, and they worked their way back in front, taking a narrow lead into the final quarter.

The last term stayed tight.

Every possession mattered, and the game was still within reach late. Rocherlea managed to find the decisive goal, holding on in the final minutes to secure the win.

Bailey Mitchell, Tom Symes, James Griffiths, Rohan Sergeant, Tom Knowles, Matthew Zanetto and Declan Boyd each added a goal to the scoreboard.

Mitchell, Griffiths and Zanetto were strong throughout, with Zachary Jones, Tom Symes and Billy Jack also contributing in a consistent team effort.
