Round 2 Match Day Report

Round 2 Match Day Report

HOW GOOD WAS DYSON HEPPELL?!

Bridgenorth returned to Parrot Park for Round 2 in front of one of the club’s strongest home turnouts in recent years, with all four sides taking on Old Scotch across a full day of football.

With Dyson Heppell pulling on the sash for the first time, there was a real sense of occasion. By the time the seniors ran out, the boundary was lined, with people pushing in to get a closer look.

And he didn’t disappoint.

Under 18.5s

The Under 18.5s opened the day against a strong Old Scotch outfit, showing encouraging signs, particularly in the first quarter, despite the 41-point result.

Old Scotch 103 defeated Bridgenorth 62

Tayte Romari continued his strong form with three goals, while Nate Clements added two in another consistent performance. Deklyn Walters, Tyler Barron, Levi Nettlefold and Isaac Bezemer all contributed on the scoreboard.

A great moment for the side saw Archer Hayes and Caleb Jones recognised for their 50-game milestones, a strong achievement for both.

Senior Women

The Senior Women faced a tough Old Scotch side, with several players continuing to build consistency early in the season.

Declan Boyd was a standout with three goals and was named best on ground. Thomas Lilly continued his good run with two, while Joshua Corkery and Harry Templar each added one. Across the ground, Chance Coghill, Arnie Donnellan and Ryan Geale were consistent contributors, with the side controlling large periods of the game.

Senior Men

The Senior Men finished the day with a 70-point win, but it didn’t start that way.

Old Scotch jumped out early, leading 19–14 at quarter time. From there, Bridgenorth worked into the game and took control, particularly after half time.

Final Score:
Bridgenorth 124 defeated Old Scotch 54

Heppell built into the contest, finding more of the ball as the game opened up. He finished with five goals, including a clean finish from the pocket that had the crowd up and about.

But it wasn’t just what he did on the field. Between breaks and after the game, he made time for the kids along the boundary, high fives, conversations, photos, and it didn’t go unnoticed.

Rohan Sergeant continued his strong form with another five goals, while Casey Walker-Russell added four. Bailey Mitchell contributed two, with Jacob Gilpin, Oliver Ketchell and Solomon Scott each adding one.

Through the middle, Matthew Zanetto and Cody Jones helped drive the shift in momentum as Bridgenorth took control.

Best Players:
Dyson Heppell, Matthew Zanetto, Casey Walker-Russell, Cody Jones, Rohan Sergeant, Oliver Ketchell

A big crowd, a full day of football, and a strong finish to cap it off.

From milestone games in the Under 18.5s, to another win for the Reserves, and a Senior performance that built into something convincing, there’s a lot to take out of the day.

And for those there, it’s one they won’t forget any time soon.
