Round 1 Match Day Report

It's a good day to be a parrot! 
Following an impressive opening to the season, Bridgenorth backed it up with another strong showing across all grades on April 11, with matches played across Invermay Park and Hillwood.

There continues to be plenty of momentum building within the club, with each side showing growth, confidence, and consistency early in the 2026 season.

Under 18.5s

The Under 18.5s completed what was Round 4 against Old Launcestonians at Invermay Park, going down by 19 points in what was another competitive outing.

Final Score:
Old Launcestonians 62 defeated Bridgenorth 43

Despite the result, the group continues to show strong development. Nate Clements, Tayte Romari and Malachai Dunne once again featured among the best, backing up their strong performances from the previous round. 

Goals were shared evenly, with Nate Clements, William Frost, Tayte Romari and Levi Nettlefold each contributing one.

Senior Women

The Senior Women continued their dominant start to the season with an emphatic 111-point victory over Hillwood in Round 1.

Bridgenorth 112 defeated Hillwood 1

It was another awesome team performance, building strong confidence heading into next week’s clash against Old Scotch. Lucy Cooper once again featured among the best, continuing her excellent form, alongside Emma Woods and Taja Richardson. Alex Dickenson and Nepheli Papavasileiou were also outstanding.

There were plenty of highlights on the scoreboard, including a memorable first goal for Sarah Donnelly. Alex Dickenson led the way with three goals, supported by multiple contributors including Chelsea Bezemer, Maddy Dunn and Taja Richardson.

Reserves

The Reserves continued their dominant form with a commanding 121-point win over Hillwood in Round 1.

It was another standout performance from Thomas Lilly, who followed up last week’s efforts with an incredible seven-goal haul. Tom Gibson and Corey McCormick once again featured among the best, continuing their strong early-season form, while Lachlan Berwick, Alec Roberts and Joe Flint all made notably valuable contributions.

The scoreboard reflected the team’s control, with multiple goal kickers across the ground.

Senbior Men

The Senior Men delivered another strong performance, overcoming an early challenge to secure a 65-point win over Hillwood.

Bridgenorth 96 defeated Hillwood 31

It was an interesting start to the game, with Hillwood jumping out early with four quick goals. Bridgenorth responded well, settling into their structure and sticking to their game plan to take control and run away with the match.

Rohan Sergeant continued his exceptional form, backing up last week’s 10-goal performance with another seven goals. Casey Walker-Russell was again influential with three, while Bailey Mitchell continued to impact both ends of the ground.

Matthew Zanetto and Sam Curtis were instrumental through the middle, as were Jordan Cowell and Jacob Gilpin playing key roles in the win.
